GATEWAY SCHOOL, SANTA CRUZ, CA

During the lunch/recess hour on Tuesday, our regular music teacher held an open sing-along for all interested students. Unfortunately, we chose to offer this activity in the regular music room, which meant that students had to go out of their way to get there. Next year if we decide to include the music component, we will offer it outside in the school yard where the children eat and then play. We are hoping that more students will participate under those circumstances.

We are also hoping to bring in a music group from the outside. Our feeling is that the interest level will be higher if students perceive the activity as a special concert and not as "just another music class."
